About Thunderbird 5 ...an audience view by Rob Vernon
It’s always interesting to note the reaction from an audience to a band.
With Thunderbird 5, it’s often a broad smile as each classic track is introduced. Each number seems to have been hand-picked to evoke memories of
when we were younger. These songs are the backdrop to the teenage and early 20’s for many of the audience. Oh yes, formative years and evocative music – a ‘heady’ combination! But don’t think that I’m excluding the younger element here... the music these guys choose to play is timeless; it’s not unusual to see young faces in the crowd enjoying the music with the rest of us! I’m sure you’ll find quite a few seminal numbers in there to get your own
memories flooding back.
This band are masters of ‘The Who’ covers - in fact they are renowned for them... with My Generation, Baba O’Reilly and Won’t Get Fooled Again
featuring high up the list of tunes that gives me particular pleasure. Their set usually reaches a climax with the last one of the above… with the whole
crowd rocking along to great musicians, playing great music.
If you’ve not seen this band yet, get down to their next gig and rock-out with the rest of us! Not to be missed ...in my humble opinion.
